چکیده

Abstract This article presents an overview of the current status and future prospects integrated nonlinear photonics in long-wave infrared (LWIR) spectrum, spanning 6 to 14 μm. range is well-suited for applications such as chemical identification, environmental monitoring, surveillance, search rescue, night vision. Nevertheless, advancement a mature, low-loss chip-level platform LWIR remains its infancy. We examine materials growth techniques, fabrication methods associated with LWIR, highlighting promising platforms like chalcogenide glass, single-crystalline diamond, Ge/SiGe, III–V compounds. Furthermore, we explore loss mechanisms, dispersion engineering, generation broadband supercontinuum frequency combs, device performance, encompassing photodetectors modulators. Lastly, propose roadmap development LWIR. Graphic

Silicon photonics in midwave and longwave infrared

Optical data communication is not the only area where silicon photonics will have an impact. Silicon and related group 4 crystals have excellent linear and nonlinear optical properties in the midwave and longwave infrared spectrum [1-6]. These properties, along with silicon’s excellent thermal conductivity and optical damage threshold, open up the possibility for a new class of midwave and long...

Chalcogenide Glass Materials for Integrated Infrared Photonics

Chalcogenide glasses (ChGs) are amorphous compounds containing the chalcogen elements (S, Se, Te) and exhibit wide infrared transparency windows. They are easy to synthesize in bulk and thin film forms and their compositional flexibility allows tuning of optical properties such as refractive index making them ideal for infrared photonics. We have studied the material attenuation in ChGs that ar...

Longwave infrared compressive hyperspectral imager

Physical Sciences Inc. (PSI) is developing a longwave infrared (LWIR) compressive sensing hyperspectral imager (CS HSI) based on a single pixel architecture for standoff vapor phase plume detection. The sensor employs novel use of a high throughput stationary interferometer and a digital micromirror device (DMD) converted for LWIR operation in place of the traditional cooled LWIR focal plane ar...

Longwave infrared (LWIR) coded aperture dispersive spectrometer.

We describe a static aperture-coded, dispersive longwave infrared (LWIR) spectrometer that uses a microbolometer array at the detector plane. The two-dimensional aperture code is based on a row-doubled Hadamard mask with transmissive and opaque openings. The independent column code nature of the matrix makes for a mathematically well-defined pattern that spatially and spectrally maps the source...
